We care as much about your privacy as you do and are committed to respecting it in every way. We collect no personally identifiable information through the use of our software, nor do we collect information on aggregate Internet usage or "surfing" behavior or patterns for or from any of our users.
The only information we collect from our NavHelper and NavExcel Search Toolbar or our search results pages software are:
During Activation and Software Updates
- Your computers browser and OS type to ensure that no activations occur for unsupported browser and OS types.
- A unique software ID to track total number of unique downloads of our software this ID is generated by using Microsoft-approved MD5 hashing technology to ensure no reverse-engineering of any end user information from the unique client ID.
- The version of our software you downloaded in order to track that our partners are distributing the correct version of our software to end users.
- Partner ID to measure how much payments need to be made to each distribution
partner.
During Usage
- Session-specific IP address of the computer you are using to access our search and navigation services, in order to deliver to you the most geographically appropriate search results or websites.
- Your computers browser type and language setting to ensure that our search results are optimized for viewing through browsers used by the greatest number of our end users and that we serve you results in the appropriate language when possible.
- Search terms and the erroneous URL that you enter into the browser address bar (for NavHelper) and the search terms that you enter into the NavExcel Search Toolbar search interface. This information is transmitted to our servers and then sent to our search partner, Yahoo! Search, to deliver you the most relevant search results based on your search query or the erroneous URL that you entered.
- When you click on a related search term on our search results pages, we collect information on the ranking of the related search term, search terms that were used to generate the related search term(s), and the number of paid results from the previous query. We also collect UID information when you click on a related search term. This is not a user-specific ID and only used to track the specific search session initiated by you. All of the above information is used to gauge how effectively we are offering you alternative search terms based on your original search query.
- Sponsored search listings (i.e., advertisements) you click on from our search results pages are directed to the advertiser website through the servers of our advertising partner, Yahoo! Search (also known as Overture). To the best of our knowledge, Yahoo! Search tracks (1) the search term that you submitted to generate the search results, (2) the unique search session that was generated by your search, (3) specific sponsored search listing(s) that was or were clicked by you, (4) the search partner from which the search request originated (i.e., that the search request came from NavExcel), (5) the specific revenue tracking tag that was assigned by us to the search URL that you were directed to (based on who delivered our software to you), and (6) your IP address. It is our understanding that Yahoo! Search collects data listed under (1) through (3) primarily to determine how much to charge advertisers for their advertisement listings and to gauge the effectiveness of the sponsored search listings they serve in response to specific search queries from users. Data collected under (4) is used to determine how many searches and revenue that we are generating from our users based on our search partnership arrangement with Yahoo! Search. Data collected under (5) is used to further categorize the search and revenue data associated with us for the purpose of determining how many searches and how much revenue is being generated by our software that is distributed by our various distribution partners. Finally, data collected under (6) is generally used to ensure that the most relevant search results for a given market is served to our users and to help ensure against fraudulent clicks. None of this information is ever connected to your programs unique software ID by either Yahoo! Search or by us. Moreover, we (meaning, NavExcel) do not have access to such information on an IP address-specific basis and such data is reported to us from Yahoo! Search only in the aggregate on a daily basis.
Neither the NavExcel Search Toolbar nor NavHelper serve you any pop-up or pop-under advertisements. Any such advertisements you see are from other software applications you may have installed on your computer or the website that you are visiting.
